Tai Shan

Time I did one of these or I'll completely lose track-just finished my dinner of cold BBQ duck, tofu and spring onion in soy sauce, baozi (a sort of dumpling/spring roll) and the sweetest cherry tomatoes I've ever eaten(all purchased from the local market for less than a pound) washed down with a cold Tsingtao while watching the latest World Cup match.  Life is hard! After the excesses of Shanghai I thought I should do something...

Shanghai 'd in Shanghai

Well, there I was, Friday midnight, my first night in Shanghai, arrived about 9pm after a delayed flight, took the Maglev (high tech 400 kph train) and metro into town, dropped my stuff at the hostel and set off in a taxi to find those of the group who had arrived Thursday. Being China, I shouldn’t have been surprised to end up in an Irish Bar drinking Guinness and watching a sing-off between our...

Hi Johals,

I was in Pingdu, near Qingdao for six months from Feb to Aug 2010. I can't offer a lot of advice-make sure you have warm clothes if you're going to be there in the winter, be prepared for plans to change suddenly without notification, enjoy it and drink lots of Tsingtao beer! I would definitely recommend a visit to Tai-Shan if you get the chance too. If you have specific questions I will try to help, or ask the girls who were working in Yantai while I was there.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi,

I work as an English teacher close to Yantai/Qingdao. Do you still work in China? How long have you been here?

Do you have any tips/advise for living in the Shandong area? Would be great to get some advice from a teacher who is/was set up here.

Hi,

Are you looking to work in China?

Do you want to work with Kindergarten children?

Do you want a good Salary?

Do you want weekends off and two ½ days?

If you do, please contact me today. Our kindergarten needs teachers for the new semester starting September. We also have vacancies in our training centers. We are based in GuangZhou, Dongguan, and Foshan all in Guangdong Province, China.

Our school is called CIEO (Canadian International Education Organization)

If you want more details then please get in touch, If you know someone who might be interested then please forward this to them.

If you can’t start September don’t worry, you can still apply as we need teachers throughout the year!

All the best,

Robert

Backs fine now too by the way!!

I only get 4 days off and I'm going to a wedding in Ganyu on Sunday so probably not. Who's giong anyway?

Finally decided it was time to get out of the box I had allowed myself to be put in. Not sure who it was that said "Life begins where my comfort zone ends", but this experience will surely fall into that category!
