Hello,
A little background of me: I'm almost 19; I'm currently an exchange student in Germany; I have passion for living in a foreign countries and learning foreign languages.
My Goal: I want to become an English teacher.
My Question: Has anyone on 'tefl chalkboard' done this at such a young age?
Why do I want to do this instead of going to a college/university first? Well, college/Uni in the US is really expensive, I want to explore the world some more before I make a big commitment (time/money) like going to a university.
**I'm ultimately looking for someone to help give me some advice for someone of my age. Someone who was my age and aspired to become a teacher and did it.
Thanks.
Michael

Thanks. Tourism Diploma? Is that a degree about teaching you how to be a tourist? haha. Ya I totally agree, whatever you set your mind to you can achieve :)
Hey Michael,
I haven't become a teacher yet, but I'm on my way! I know exactly what you mean about college/university. When I graduated highschool it was pretty much a given that you had to go off to college etc. So I did, and I just graduated in June with my tourism diploma. What they don't tell you is how low the starting wages are for most jobs. I can make the same amount of money working at McDonalds rather than working in my "diploma required" tourism job. Pretty lame if you ask me! Anyways!!!! Being 20 I want to travel and see the world, so doing this course is such a win win situation. You get to travel, teach and experience so many things. You're young, so enjoy it while you can - I currently work at a factory and I hear almost everyday to get out and do whatever I can while I'm not tied down.
Good luck with your adventure! If you put your mind to it, you can do it!
Kat
