Hi there :)
Have you decided on a TEFL course yet? I still can't decide which one to take. Decisions decisions! :)
Well ive finished my tefl now and Im going on the china internship, but Ive also looked at different places to work after I finish that and it seems as though there are a lot of jobs out there and a lot of them are in really good places to travel! i-i can help you find a placement some where for after you have finished!
Hi there
sounds like your really keen to travel which is really cool! What exactly do you want to know about the TEFL?
Wow, loads of places - it's great that you want to travel! You might want to get in touch with Astrid - she's in a similar postition as you as a non-native speaker who's aiming to use TEFL to travel: http://www.tefl-chalkboard.com/astridc
Unfortunatley the China internship is only open to people who are residents of the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, as you need to complete a classroom course before doing it, which isn't available in the Philippines.
In terms of the 100 hour course, there's no scholarships as such, but you can get $100 off the course at the minute (you just have to book before the end of the month) which should help, but otherwise it'll just be a case of saving up little by little.
Sorry to not have been any more help - if you have any more questions send them my way :)
Heey,
We should start an 'honor' club as it is my real name - my first name though! V. exciting :) That's great you're hoping to teach abroad - where are you thinking of heading? Generally you do your training first, yes, and you can do it all online so all you need is an internet connection - so it's not too tricky!
If you need any advice or anything get in touch and I'll do my best to help :)
Hey Michelle,
Thanks for your message! Teaching English is definitely a great way to travel the world. The way it works is that you start by completing a recognized TEFL course (such as those offered by i-to-i). Generally the standard is 100 hours of TEFL study or more, so this course would probably work well for you: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-courses/online-tefl-course-100.html.
Once you've completed your TEFL course, you're in a good position to apply for jobs around the world and as you already have teaching experience you should have a very good chance of finding work - whereabouts is it that you want to teach? If you let me know some countries you're aiming for I'll put you in touch with people who are already teaching there so they can give you tips about job-hunting, as it varies from country to country.
Hope that clears things up a little - if you have any other questions let me know on here or give us a call on +44(0)871 781 1123.
