Hello there!
I completed the i-to-i course several years ago, then went on to do the CELTA (the i-to-i course was a great platform). I taught in China from 2007-2009 in Harbin, which was nice in summer and around -30 in winter. Brrrrr!.
I passed the MA TESOL with disctiction, I'm chuffed about that.

Maybe see you around China some time!

Hello Robert,
Thanks for posting about the position. I'll be staying in the UK for a bit after I finish the MA. Something to think about for the future though. I hope you find good teachers.
All the best,
Lee.
Hey Madlee, When I get to Hong Kong, I'm considering working from home doing private tuition, this is not really for financial purposes but more for experience and confidence in teaching, however I realise that I will need to charge something to be able to pay the bills. I'd like to give financially disadvantaged children the same priviledge as wealthy children. Can this work? Could I charge different amounts to different students or is the only way to charge a flat rate to everyone on an hourly basis. Obviously there is a moral issue tied in with this idea and I'd appreciate your feedback. Any questions before answering are welcomed, cheers. Nathan
Hi,
Are you looking to work in China?
Do you want to work with Kindergarten children?
Do you want a good Salary?
Do you want weekends off and two ½ days?
If you do, please contact me today. Our kindergarten needs teachers for the new semester starting September. We also have vacancies in our training centers. We are based in GuangZhou, Dongguan, and Foshan all in Guangdong Province, China.
Our school is called CIEO (Canadian International Education Organization)
If you want more details then please get in touch, If you know someone who might be interested then please forward this to them.
If you can’t start September don’t worry, you can still apply as we need teachers throughout the year!
All the best,
Robert
Hello Rin.
I was not allowed on the internship when I did my course for the same reasons.
Sally and Mandy help teachers get jobs in China. They're based in Qingdao and probably have stronger connections in and around that area. They communicate with franchise schools, public schools and universities. They're after quality teachers; i.e. not backpackers after a cheap getaway. The teachers they place are their reputation. They'll NEVER charge teachers for using their services. Sally's been a teacher in China for several years, focusing more on corporate language training at this time. Mandy, her Chinese friend and business partner, was the centre manager at a school Sally and myself worked at.
They'll look at your CV and the kind of job you're looking for and then identify positions that fit your and the schools' criteria. You may need to take part in a Skype/phone interview.
I can find out more details for you, alternatively you can give them a call. You won't get your head bitten off or your arm twisted to signing anything.
All the best,
Lee.
Hiya :)
I saw your comment on Alix's page. You mentioned that you had a friend with a recruitment company in China? I am in the same sort of position as Alix by the sounds of it, no degree, no proof of schooling to 18, so am unable to use i to i's placement service to China, Indonesia, Korea or Japan. I can only use their placement service to Ecuador and Prague. Although I am still taking the 120 hour TEFL course.
I followed the link you put on Alix's page to your friends site and had a quick look, could you tell me a little bit more about the service she offers please?
Thanks :)
Hello madlee
I recently completed the i-to-i online course and remember seeing several of your comments on the student message board. I remember that you seemed to talk a lot of sense and even though I was coming to the fold after you had left, your useful comments helped me too! So, I just wanted to say thanks really.
I can see from what you've posted on here that you've continued in the same vein, so, if you don't mind, I'll do a friendship request after this. Sadly, I'm not sure that I'll be coming up with such juicy information, but I'll try. I hope that if I can secure my first teaching post, I'll be able to provide more indepth and incisive comments to help others.
Regards, Yvette
