Hi Liza,

What qualification you want to do really depends on where you want to teach and for how long. Obviously, you will also need to factor in how much you want to spend on your qualification and how much time you can spend on it.  CELTA takes a full month and costs around the £1,000 mark.  An i-to-i TEFL qualification can be broken up and done largely in your free time at home (the online component) and then you'd need a free weekend to do the classroom practice.  The main difference is that in the CELTA, you have to be observed for 6 hours teaching a large class.

i-to-i have taster weekend courses, where you get ideas for in the classroom and get to practise teaching - they are very much a more affordable taster which will help you to see if it's what you want to do, and to give you the skills to do it.

It's best to first look at where you want to teach and see what qualification requirements/ experience youneed.  Rome is a popular place, so you may find many schools have higher requirements.  You may have to go outside of Rome to find a job as a newly qualified teacher.  Once you have a few years experience, the world is more your oyster :-)

Hope this helps!

Emma
