Almost three months into my contract and we are finishing up some of the worst textbooks ever. As relieved as I am, I've been studying replacement text, looking for the answers. Today, I don't have a textbook for my 6 pm middle school class. I've tried to make an easy to read interview between myself and Kim Jong Il. In 'Get Together,' we often discussed a fictional famous singer named 'Joe Curtis' and what his favorite foods are and so forth. Hopefully my attempt at rewriting the text has resulted in something more culturally relevant to my South Korean students than the content offered by the "Get Together" series.

“That’s a stupid question. Haven’t you seen me on tv?”
Teacher
“Like on MTV?” Hmmm. Can you play the guitar or the drums?”

“No, I can’t”

Kim Jong Il
“Duh. Dictator of North Korea!”
Teacher
“What’s your phone number?”
Kim Jong Il
“Just look me up on Skype.”
Teacher
“Okay. Do you like bananas?”
Kim Jong Il
No, I don’t. My favorite food is kimche. I also like cookies and hamburgers. They’re delicious.
