Oh sorry for the slow response. Work took over and my plans to do it this year sort of slipped by. Researching again and looking into May 2012 now.
Good luck for October I bet you can't wait !
yaay glad you're coming with!!! i think i'll start getting worried nearer the time when i know i've been accepted and nearer october EEEEK! let me know how you get on with your TEFL. xx
Hey Leeanne,
Lovely to hear from you!
yep i am still considering the internship!:-0) I'm in two minds because orginally my plan was to complete the 140 hour TEFL course then find a job abroad but now i feel that may be to daunting i'm a gutsy woman lol but as i've never travelled before it may be a little too much for this first time experience!!
Like you wanna experience all i can before i have major responsibities settle down etc and wont get the chance too. Life is too short!! plus i'm fend up of my job and need a break away to try something new always wanted to travel and been interesting in teaching for a while so hey its a great opportunity to kill two birds with one stone!! LOL
Like you i work for the government in customer service in london where are u based? i'm gonna apply for a career break, Maybe u could do the same? if thats a option. I know how your feeling about your job because though i wont be actually leaving i will be unpaid for a year with no guarantee of getting the same role again when i return but hey if i get it i will take a year out and alot can happen in a year so we'll see.
You have taken the plunge now!! good on you! you made the biggest step so everything will fall into place the unknown is always so scary!! Things happen for a reasons so it will all work out hun:-) Well i've rambled on enough now lol. speak soon x
Totally crazy to leave my job...with government funding cuts etc etc its highly unlikley i will get a similar job/money when i return but, i am not gettingyounger & feel i need an adventure/ to experience travel before i settle down etc.
Alice.....im coming to Thailand with you....i've booked today!!! Total mix of emotions- total excitement yet full of fear!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All your fears are exactly the same as mine, especially being placed in the middle of nowhere by myself but hopefully this won't happen! and I'm hoping that the amount of money we get is enough to live off as well...also I am a total sun worshipper so feel the same about the beach location! haha. Do you think you will book it or are you guna wait a while and have a think?
Sounds like you have a pretty good job at the moment! What's made you want to leave? I just work in a subscription company doing customer service...not the most thrilling of jobs as you can imagine but it's money and the first thing I found since I graduated! I'm from near Brighton. What about you?
x
Fears.....i guess my main concerns are where i will be placed & if there is enough going on in the area, the distance to the beach :) (i'm a sun queen) & if the money is enough to live on. I do however feel reassured about the fact we will be with another intern. I'm also worried about quiting my job!
I haven't started the TEFL yet, i'm going to book the internship & do it as part of that, need to get a move on! Just like you i am concerned re: grammar etc.
I'm currently on a secondment from Connexions to the local authority working as a personal adviser with young people who have been in/left the care system. I provide careers advice/guidance, work with them to develop their employabilty skills, raise aspirations etc with the aim of getting them into employment, education or training. Prior to this i was an adult education teacher, delivering apprenticeship programmes in Business & customer service.
Where are you working? Where are you from?
Hey Lee-Anne,
How are you? Yes I have! Bit of a spontaneous decision actually but quite excited about it! I've started doing my TEFL, getting it done quite slowly because of working full time, it's like being back at school again! Some of the grammar parts I swear I was never taught! ha.
What are your fears about the internship? I've read a few blogs and some bits sound not so good but hoping those are quite rare but other than that it all sounds pretty amazing. What are your thoughts?!
Have you started your TEFL yet? What do you do at the moment?
Ali x
Hi all
I am currently researching the Thailand Internship from Oct 2011 & embarking on Tefl course in the next few weeks. Would love to hear from anyone who is starting the internship and anyone who has done it. My only hesitation at the moment is the location of the placement (Lopburi) ...how much is there to do? distance from the beach? etc etc. Please get in touch guys, i need advice & guidance :)
I look forward to hearing from you. L x
