So, my partner and I have nearly finished our 140 Hour Course and are starting to apply for jobs. We both don't have degrees and we're finding Asia to be quite difficult and we aren't too interested in teaching in China just yet.
So we've been looking at Ecuador and Czech Republic. These places look amazing! We're from Australia and understand it isn't impossible to work over there which is great.
One problem: I'm 22 in June (we plan to start around then) and according to the i-to-i site, to work in both countries you must be 23...
Does anyone know why??
It's frustrating!! I don't want one year to stop me from teaching. I've done my study just like someone who is 23 years old...I don't see the difference.
If anyone knows ANY information about age restrictions in these countries, please let me know because I have my little heart set on working in Prague right now!
Thank you Teflers!
Lauren.

hi, sounds like i'm in a similar situation. i am 22, i haven't started me course yet, but i'm already researching countries i'd like to teach and i'm come across a similar hurdle... the age thing. can you tell me how and if you've overcome this?
Hey Lauren,
That's great you're looking to teach in Ecuador or the Czech Republic. i-to-i's placement service in Czech Republic says you have to be 23 as this is what our partners there ask for. As you have 140 hours worth of TEFL training, they may consider an application from you.
Don't get disheartened by this, there will be many other companies out there who will be more than happy to hire you. You may want to have a chat to these members who are teaching abroad at the moment, they'll be able to give you adivce on finding work:
