Class Dismissed… Time to Explore!

Teaching English abroad isn’t just about doing all those lesson plans and marking, oh no! One of the greatest things about TEFL is that you get the chance to explore all the amazing places your new adopted home has to offer. Just check out what these TEFLers have been getting up to in their free time:

Bridget has recently enjoyed a trip to Koh Samet, Thailand.

“The beach was beautiful, and I think it was exactly what we all needed after a few weeks of teaching. We spent the Saturday day just hanging out at the beach, intermittently going for a swim, or sunbaking, playing football with the hotel workers (the only locals), jumping off the pier, and drinking Chang (beer).”

Cheers!

From getting his poetry published to managing the Mexican cricket team, Jack Little is loving his new life in Mexico.

“I have just arrived back from Costa Rica where the national team didn't do too great. We beat The Falkland Islands and Costa Rica but were beaten by Belize, Peru and Chile. If we had won the tournament, we'd have gone to Suriname next month!”

Jess has found that one of the perks of the teach in China Internship is all the unexpected holidays!

“I found out that I had a week holiday on a Friday night. I took a boat over to Zhuhai, a small city across the bay. Zhuhai was really nice. It has a great waterfront where all the people go for tandem bike rides and long walks. Many of the Chinese people put on their best clobber and head down here for a bit of a photo shoot. It makes for great people watching!” Read more

Liz is teaching English in South Korea and is certainly making the most of her spare time.

“In the last few weeks I've climbed Halla Mountain, been to the Jeju Five Day Market, moved house, bought some warm clothes, run out of money, explored the beaches, been to a Buddhist temple, climbed another mountain, had a party, drunk too much soju, visited a couple of museums and eaten a lot of good food.”  Read more

Briona is teaching in Portugal and enjoying what Portugal is famous for … its caves, climate, oh and liqueurs!

“The month started well enough with a five day 'weekend' for Carnival. My friend and I decided to rent a car and go sightseeing. In five days we saw the highlights of Estremadura, which included a beach, two abbeys, Portugal's most famous caves, the former HQ of the Knights Templar, several pretty villages and of course copious amounts of 'Ginja', a cherry liquer which you drink from cups made of chocolate! The bonus is that you get to eat the chocolate afterwards! Heaven!”  Read more
