Today we arrived at our placement school, in Ningbo. At the moment I'm missing the wonderful friends I made in Beijing and the comfort of safety in numbers.
I can't really say much yet about the new place. Well, actually, I could say a lot, but for the moment I'm just going to keep my mouth shut and keep Bob Marley (every little thing will be alright) on repeat... And be glad that I have internet! And hopefully I will make some friends soon so as to feel less isolated.
I'm posting photos from Beijing - from Tiananmen square where I was for about a millisecond and outside the Forbidden City (which I'm dying to see but will have to wait until the end of the semester), plus the great wall and some group shots.
Fireworks are shooting off constantly tonight because of the lantern festival - which is probably the coolest part of it all.
Hasta.
P.S. If I met you in Beijing and you are reading this please friend me/write to me! I want to know about your placement and how things are going!

Hey Katy, how's it going now? Elaine is at a school in Ningbo also - maybe ill come visit lol. I'm north (ish) of Zhejiang in a place called Tongxiang. I think I'm the only one here as I haven't seen any 'western' or english speaking people. I haven't even wandered off campus yet so I have no idea what the town is like. Anywya, hope you and ur mum are keeping well, speak soon
Gemma x
Hey Katy, we met during the lecture, i sat with you and your mum. Are you and your mum living together in Ningbo? I feel quite isolated, i'm living with a girl from another programme. She's really nice but i just want to be with someone i know from back home! We're outside Beijing at National Institute of Technology, and i thought thats cool, we can walk to Beijing. But no, there's nothing around for miles. Can take over an hour to get to Beijing because of traffic. And we have to pay for breakfast and dinner, which we can get from canteens or from the 2 small shops on campus or if we get time to go to a supermarket. We get a little extra pay for that but i just want to be able to pop into town and grab a coffee, or go for a walk somewhere instead of being stuck on a campus! But hey i'm sure we'll settle in. Just got to wait for the teaching to start! What age group are you teaching? x
