Hi,
This might seem like a silly question, but would a 120 hour ONLINE TEFL course really take 120 hours?
Might it take shorter or longer depending on the learner?
Is it somehow capped at 120 hours?
What have been your experiences? Did it take longer, shorter?
I have limited time to complete the course if I want to find a job for January and I would hate to start now if it ends up taking 150 - 200 hours and I can't finish in time.
THANKS!

It's taken me 5 months so far - i had to pay to get an extension! I work full time and have commitments in the evening..and sometimes i'm just too tired to concentrate...it depends on your schedule and how well you take in information etc. So expect it to take perhaps longer than 120 hours...good luck, it will be worth it in the end!
I'm currently doing 120 hr course and have just finished 60 hr course in 10 days, so it's doable.
I'm doing the online course and although I'm going through at a steady rate, I'd say to add 25% extra time to the estimated 120 hours. How long you study really depends on you because if you just do enough to pass, then that's one thing, if you want to participate in the webinars, or do research on areas you don't understand properly, then you'll take longer and be better off in the long run.
You should also take into account if you are working or not, or have other commitments as to find x amount of hours per day is not always as easy as it sounds.
For a native English-speaker, 60 hours is a maximum if you concentrate on the task. My mother language is French, I am working all day long and it will take me 4 week-ends to finish the first 4 checks.
It's different for everybody. They give you three months to do it but if you need longer you can pay for an extension. If you sign up for one now I'm sure you'll get it done with plenty of time to spare!
Hi,
When you sign up you get three months to complete the course. If you don't manage to complete it in this time you can pay a small fee to extend your access. How long it actually takes depends very much on how much time you put it into it. Mine took five months, although I was working two jobs at the time and commuting 2,200 miles a month so the only free time I had was at the weekends. The most important thing is to allow yourself enough time to take the information in.

I think you can get through it pretty quickly if you devote the time to it. If you have till January, you can definately finish before then I would think.
I'm enrolling into the 120 online program tomorrow, so I can keep you posted on how its going for me :)
