Hello!
I was hoping someone here might be able to assist me. I am - as so many before me - currently stuck on the Grammar Awareness assignment. I have failed twice now, and so I find myself very, very worried as I'm facing my third and final attempt - especially since I have a soft time limit and need this to be done ASAP. Most maddening, I find the tutor's feedback to be utterly unhelpful, and was hoping someone here could give me a hand. Here is how things stand with my second attempt.
|
(i) Can speak
(ii) Present Simple (iii) Can + Simple Present (iv) Information about a person's ability |
|
(i) Was founded
(ii) Past simple passive (iii) Be + past particle (iv) A recently completed event that has significance in the present |
This is the passive but the funtion in (iv) is incorrect. Why is the passive voice used instead of the active voice?
So be + verb is right, but can + verb is not. Irritating.
Which incidentally brings me to my second problem: that annoying section iv of the last sentance that it seems everyone gets wrong. My other previous attempt was " (iv) A completed action at a specified time in the past" which was also incorrect, though for that one no feedback was given as to how it was wrong.
I'm at my wit's end here. I can't get ahold of the tutor to see if they have any other feedback from me, and when I looked online it looked as if others had put down similar answers but got them right, so I have no idea as to what I need to do. Could anyone here help me?
