I will be teaching English at a Budapest public high school for the 2010-2011 school year. Although I'm certified as an American high school history teacher, this will be my first time teaching English as a foreign language. I'm looking forward to learning more from the group.

Hi,
Honor from i-i syggested I contact you.
I have worjed in Hungary previously, and have just received my first TEFL certification through i-i, my aim being to return to Hungary to teach.
Can you recommend any contacts for me, or offer any advice?
Many thanks in advance.
George.
Hi there. I got my job through my fiance. He had taught English in Hungary previously, so we are returning to his high school. However, I'd recommend finding Hungarian public high schools on the internet and contacting the principal or English department chair (or even the main administrator). They'll often offer housing, and you can avoid paying a placement service.
Hi, how did you get your current job, if you don't mind sharing? I am very interested in working in the former Eastern Bloc next academic year, after my soon to begin year in China.

Hey,
Welcome to chalkboard and congratulations on getting your job in Budapest - have you been to Hungary before, or will this be your first time there?
