Well I am a month into my summer holiday from University and where do I go........back to visit friends and family in Australia where unfortunately it is winter!!! Needless to say I have been FREEZING after leaving the lovely warmth of Nanjing (30+ everyday) to be met with 8-10 degrees in the daytime and down to the minus degrees overnight...brrrrr......
Apart from the weather I have to say it is nice to catch up with family and friends - see and hear all their news - be able to use Facebook and Utube freely!! and generally just have time to chill out. Can't say I have experienced any culture shock either way (going to China or returning to Australia) so its been interesting to see quite a few blogs on this subject of late. I wonder how many people actually experience this shock? Or is it an urban myth? Oh well something to ponder over I guess...
My wonderful students from last year havve been emailing me madly following the CEE results being released. I am so pleased that many of my students have been successful in enrolling in their university of choice and am looking forward to keeping in touch with them as they move into tertiary education.
Would love to hear how others are spending their summer vacation......or is it only Universities that get a full 2 month break???
Look forward to recommencing my adventures in China at the end of August so until then, take care everyone.

Thank you for your lovely comments. Yes, I am living my dream and am so pleased that I can inspire others. I enjoy sharing my adventures with everyone and find that Chalkboard provides such a positive environment in which to do this.
Good luck with your future adventures.
Love your blog - you have such a positive outlook on life and it just shines through everything you write. I've been to China twice, traveled the northern Silk Road once and I want to return. Teaching in China is my plan when I retire next year, and I can hardly wait to start the adventure! Enjoy your 2 month vacation (yes, we're all jealous!)
