It just gets more interesting.....

Well in the space of a few months I've gone from being a teacher to a Professor and now a TV star apparently. I was asked to judge the Provincial Final of the CCTV Outlook English Talent show which I was happy to do in the interests of promoting the English language.

Unbeknown to me it was being filmed and my students saw me on CCTV!!!!! Imagine my surprise as I would never have known as I don't watch TV here. They were all very proud of having "their" tacher on national TV....there teeacher is not so sure!!!

My friends at home are now telling me that I am an "international " TV star so should milk it for all its worth when I return for the summer break. Somehow I think it would all get lost in translation.....not to sure that CCTV is big outside of China!!!

Mind you my students may have a change of heart when I've finished marking their exam papers...depending on their score of course. As we all know the score is the most important thing to them as so much of their lives is dependent upon getting a high score so they can follow their dreams. No matter how long I teach it will never seem right to me that your future can depend on one score - the CEE score - here in China.

I wonder how many wonderful scientists, doctors, engineers etc have been "lost" simply because their score was not good enough on one day in their lives........
