It really depends what you want it for. CELTA and Trinity are more for if you want to make a career out of TEFL and want to do it for quite a few years. Our qualification is intended for people who only want to do it for a year or two as a gap year. We have a jobs board with lots of contacts who take our qualification and also some internship programmes which is an easier option to get you abroad and most of the hassle taken out of it.
In the end the material on the online course is exactly the same as the CELTA/trinity - the only difference is in our course you don't have the 6hrs observed teaching practice. Instead you attend a practical course where you can try out various teaching methods and learn how to make your lessons fun and varied.
As I said though it really depends on what you want the qualification for :-)
Hey,
I know - it can be a bit mind boggling - if you want to chat through it you should give one of the guys in our TEFL team a call - they're all really nice (except for when they scoff all the biscuits) and will chat through your options and which course would suit you. They're on 0113 205 4610.
Good luck with it all and if there's anything I can help with let me know!
Hey Katie,
Welcome to Chalkboard! That's great you're going to be doing some TEFL training - have you started your course yet? To get you started on the site you might want to check out the groups to chat to teachers who are abroad at the minute and get an idea of what different places are like: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/groups
Enjoy the site and if you have any questions get in touch :)
