...Ok...I'm 22 years old and currently living in the UAE working as a teacher of english and history in grades 7 to 12. I graduated a year and a half ago, and still can't believe that that is the case! I love travelling and am out here in order to afford the epic adventure I will one day embark upon..! I studied for the TEFL qualification last year for that very reason, intending to scrape my way financially through each continent whilst still seeing the world. My plans altered slightly; from building schools in Africa and teaching english to orphans in India I found myself working in the richest city in the world, Abu Dhabi, for the rich and incredibly privileged. Quite a turn around, and one I was not completely prepared for, but its the means to get to my end. I am in love with music, literature, and the way in which both of these things attempt to harness and express the beauty and insanity of the human experience; something which travelling, absorbing new cultures and enduring the inevitable hardships that follow only heightens. My ambition is to one day be able to be able to express my own feelings in such a way.

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHi Kate my name is Helena and i'm currently doing a 140 hour online course. I'm really interested in working in Dubai although i don't have a university degree. I was wondering if you could give me some insight into how hard it would be to get a job in the UAE without a degree. If you had any contacts for me that would be great also. Thanks in advance..Helena
Hi Kate
I've just started the course, it seems hard!
I've always wanted to teach in the Middle East and that's where I will apply when I finish. How did you get a job there?? Any help or suggestions would be good.
Thanks
I bet it's cool there :)))
Rizwana!
Hi Kate,
you are probably being inundated with messages about how you got the job in the UAE and if you can offer any tips.
I have a university degree in Psychology and I have completed the TEFL course. I have always wanted to travel to the UAE and teach, and I am now extremely tired with searching the net every day after work, to be told that I need to have a teaching degree which I don't.
I was hoping that you can offer somepointers. Hope you're having fun, speak soon! :-)

Hi Kate
just wondering what the best way of getting a job out there is? I'm just finished my 120 hr online course and want to get cracking as quickly as possible.
Thanks
John
Hi.
I'm new to all of this, I have just opened up a profile so I can ask you a few questions. I will fill my profile in more at a later stage though :0) I'm interested in doing a TEFL course so I can hopefully teach in Dubai as my boyfriend may be moving out there next year! I've never done anything like this before so I am a bit scared but also very excited...
Can you give me an insight into working in the UAE? How hard was it to find a job/get a visa etc? How long are you going to/can stay for?
If you want to email me feel free to do so. My email address is: sandra.hook84@yahoo.co.uk.
:0) thanks in advance for any info you can give me.
Hey, what's it like working over there? There seems to be heaps of jobs but I'm abit suss on the region still...or should I just harden up and do it?
