My first Ecuador Experience part 1

March 20th:

Got to Guayaquil on time and got passed baggage claims and immigration within a hour.

I met my employer. Looking at Guayaquil in the night was beautiful. He drove me to his house and informed that I will be staying in Guayaquil for the week for training and to meet my co-workers (the other teachers).

March 21th:

We had breakfast (fruit salad, fried banana with pork, papaya juice) in Guayaquil and then we went to Malecon (a beautiful park in Guayaquil). We took a boat ride across the river and it was nice. Then, he took me to Mall De Sol (the mall looks very similar to malls in the states) and we watched a movie. We got back to his house and he went on to be with his wife. And we called it a night.

March 22nd:

STAY TUNED FOR PART 2

NOTE: I MAY BE SLOWER POSTING BECAUSE THE INTERNET IS NOT WIDELY AVAILABLE DOWN HERE LIKE IT IS IN THE UNITED STATES.

AND I AM ON MY SEARCH TO FIND A CAMCORDER. NO LUCK. WILL POST AGAIN IN A FEW DAYS.

Guayaquil is a big city. Quite interesting but very different. Malecon is a nice place to go to. Mall De Sol was much similiar to the malls back at home. The fried bananas with pork was good but it didn´t settle with my stomach too well which is the reason why I rarely eat pork. I am in Quevedo which is a big difference from Guayaquil. I will post more in the next blog.

Yea...I agree. It still amazes me to this day.

Bet you're having a great time Kallen! :)

That seemed to happen so fast! You were talking about a possible interview and now you are in your new job in Ecuador :) Wow! Can't wait to read more of your news! Take care!

Glad you got there OK - keep us posted with how you get on!

Hey, it's great to hear from you!  Sounds really cool so far.  I've never been to Guayaquil, what's it like?  I'd be interested to hear about the training.  I've never had fried banana with pork either... is it banana or plantain?  There are so many regional variations in Ecuador I can't wait to get out there and start exploring.  I'm feel a bit frustrated at having to wait.

Can you get a camcorder sent from home?  I was hoping to bring a portable hard drive with me and try and find some device through which I can play my tunes, do you think I should bring something with me instead?  I didn't realise those things were hard to come by.  I live in the land of cheap chinese goods.

I'm so pleased you've arrived and it all seems good for you.  Keep us posted ;)
