Teaching in Indonesia

My wife and I are 60 , both graduates from N.Z. , and both have TEFL Certificates. We have job offers in an isolated area of Kalimantan, Indonesia

1. Has anyone experienced age difficulties re Visa?

2. Is there an Immigration Office in Pontianak?

Thanks    John

Congrats on your offer! It is beautiful here!

There is a warning. YOU CANNOT WORK ON A TOURIST OR A SOSBUD VISA NO MATTER WHAT THE SCHOOL TELLS YOU. Please. I cannot stress this enough. you cannot legally teach without a KITAS. Not even once. And the immigration laws just got more strict starting a few weeks ago, and immigration looooves to target ESL teachers (because someone will pay to get them out of trouble... Hopefully. Oh. And because they are easy to spot).

And take it from someone who is still going through it... Immigration is... Flawed. The country, however, is wonderful.

That's great you got a job offer! I'm hoping to land in Indonesia myself after I complete my TEFL course.

Hey John,

Well done on getting a job offer! That's great news. You may want to have a chat to these members who have experience teaching in Indonesia:
