In terms of pulling together my TEFL plans for the future, this week has been pretty succesful. Firstly, I applied to Lingua senza frontiere summer camps in Italy to work as a tutor and - whoa! - they accepted me. It hasn't sunk in yet that come June I should be journeying off to North Italy for a few days' training then sent off to have a blast with Italian kids on their holidays and teach English abroad. To get to that point I've just got to make sure that I raise my travel fares and make sure that the medical treatment I'm going through over the next month or so goes well. Aside from that I've just got to sign my agreement form which my fingers are itching to do. Before I sign myself away though I'd just like to shout out there: has anyone else worked for LSF or worked in Italian summer camps teaching English? I'm sure everything is fine but I'd love to hear people's thoughts and experiences (forewarned, best prepared and all that)...
The other good news is that I got to observe a English lesson at a nearby community centre and they're happy to have me on-board as a volunteer helping out. The other day when I dropped by I wasn't on top form and was really ill but I enjoyed it and am enthused to get more involved, build up my classroom confidence and engage with a wide range of adult learners of different abilities. It's all exciting stuff and hopefully I'll be more active in that.
Wow. Not bad. TEFL-a-go-go...
