Impressive list...

Andiamo! Andiamo! To build up momentum I've been browsing around looking for opportunities to get some teaching experience at summer camps or placements later this year. Thanks to tips from people on Chalkboard (big, big thank you and thumbs up to all of you) I've found some promising possibilities.

It's a bit daunting just putting yourself out there and I find self-doubting thoughts keep on coming up when you start considering applying for things. "Why would anyone want me?"; "I can't do that!"; "I'd be completely out of my comfort zone and wouldn't be able to cope!"; "I'm going to embarass myself and regret it all!". Dwell on those kind of thoughts and I'll never leave the house, never mind leave the country to teach English.

What I found to be a great confidence booster and hopefully a helpful part of gtting TEFL jobs is putting together a brief resume. Instead of my full CV, I figured it might be a good idea to send people a list of my TEFL qualifications and qualities that make me a good language teacher - so, my experiences of writing for a student newspaper, websites and working on radio.

When I finished and looked over the list I couldn't help but think "whoa! That's actually pretty impressive!" When the self-doubt kicks in, I'm going to come back to that list to motivate and reassure myself. Hopefully, the places I send it to will look over my resume and think "ah! This would be a good person to have on board to teach English!"

I've only sent out a couple so far but I'm carrying on researching. We'll see how it goes...
