Inactivity...

So, I have got absolutely nowhere so far with pulling together a future placement to realise the dream of teaching English abroad and travelling. So much for the fresh start and exciting prospects, eh?

This is no major disaster: I've just found that I haven't been able to get round to doing serious research and start browsing about for possibilities. It seems like a huge task and in a way I'm not really sure how to go about starting. That's not the obstacle though: it's getting time to do it!

To make a trip happen this year I'm going to have to get down to some serious planning. There's always something else that needs doing or that I end up devoting time to and I never get the 'free moment' to think on my future trips. They'll never happen unless I make that moment and stick to it.

If anyone else has any thoughts about how they started to go about working out their plans or have any experience of never seeming to get time to organise themselves it'll be great to hear from them. I'm disappointed that I'm not firing on as I'd hoped, but I'm determined!

Hey Mahalath, thanks for the tip! That also looks really promising. It all goes to show that there are always opportunities out there...

Hey, came accross your blog. The dates weren't right for me, but I came accross ACLE when I was looking for things to do in the summer. Their website was www.acle.org. I have not been, but it looked like something interesing to look into if you are interested in Italy.

You guys are awesome. Quickly skimming over those links I'm inspired again. Here's to making some headway over the next week.

Thanks again. Seriously, it's much appreciated.

Hey James,

It can be really difficult getting plans together can't it - you might want to get in touch with Sandy as she seems super-organised about job hunting and might be able to give you some tips:

Good luck with the hunt and keep us updated with how you get on!

Hi Cherogoth! Cool, and thanks for the reply. Short placements and volunteering are something that I'm going to give a lot of thought to. The experience will definitely help.

It's coming together in my specially set aside 'TEFL think time'...
