Hi I'm new to TEFL, just started my course in London, I hope to take it to the west of europe and / or Japan. At the moment the course is going well but i'm very nervous!
My personal interests include art, film, animation, literature, novels, essays and plays, natural history, physics and comics.
Which means I like culture! - I think it's a valuable form of education regarding how the world/civilisation works and it's history, and painting and writing are two of my hobbies.
I'm very much into the English Language and it's uses; crazy about Stephen Fry and Dennis Potter, I thought teaching English as a foreign language couldn't be more ideal when I realised how much I wanted to work abroad and get involved with other cultures on a closer level. I'm 24 and would like to develop my skills as a person, as well as give my current skills a use, and develop my knowledge of the world through living and working in another country as well as meeting a variety of new people with different interests, cultures and backgrounds. I thought now would be the best time for me as I have the time to study which therefore grants me the time for change in my current lifestyle.....so here goes !
Hey! Im laura, currently working at i-to-i part time on...

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHeya, I went for the 120hour combined too. I think the classroom bit is important, plus it'll be good to meet other people who are doing a similar thing. I'm doing the Bristol weekend in January as its the closest to me (I live in Hereford small city near wales mainly known for cows and cider). I'm guessing you'll be doing yours in London?
I havent gotten as far as the grammar bit yet as I only started studying Saturday, good to hear your enjoying it tho and not feeling completely bamboozled!
Ive really got my heart set on Japan, but am a little concerned bout the language barrier. I've ordered some books to help a learn some basics...but I have a feeling my vocab will be limited to things like 'nearest toilets?' and 'large white wine please!'
Have you got a few places in mind, or have you decided where your heading and when?

Hiya,
I've just started my TEFL course too and really to head to Japan around March 2011. Sounds like youre getting into this for similar reasons to myslef. I'm so ready to experience a new culture, the lifestyle, mentality, art, music...everything! Are you taking an online course or are you classroom based? Hope youre enjoying it so far...I'm so excited about this, I must be driving my friends and family crazy talking about it!
