Hi, I'm Jane and at the grand old age of 42 have decided to get away from the UK and experience a few new cultures! So to kick off I'll be jetting off to Hanoi to work with orphans & special needs kids for a couple of weeks in July. I'll go from there to Bali to see family and carry out some consultancy work with a group of schools before returning to the UK in September. If I can raise the cash, at the end of the year, I'll then be jetting off to Nepal on behalf of a charity local to me here in Milton Keynes.
In case I get a appetite for this travelling lark, I'm taking the 120hr TEFL Course so that I can fund more travels at a later date. I'm looking forward to chatting to anyone who can keep me motivated about achieving this and am happy to provide lots of support and motivation in return. ;o)
Chat soon.
Jane.

I was there in March working in an orphanage, absoloutley loved the children i miss them all so much and all the friends I have made.
Hope you are having fun tho Vietnam is so beautiful xxx
Hey Jane! How's everything going on your end? Where are you going / what are the plans now? My teaching plans look like they might not pan out but still travelling and already having a laugh in Budapest :)
Hope all is going well on your end.
Hey Jane
Glad to see that you are still heading to Asia even if its not China!!! I returned to Australia last Saturday after all my travels - it was such a pity we did not meet up when I was in England.
Now I've returned its time to get my visa requirements sorted for China!!!! I am still yet to work out how to pack for 6 months- had enough trouble keeping things down for Europe and the UK.
I am sure you will enjoy Vietnam. As you are aware I have been there several times now and would have probably chose to teach there if accomdation was supplied and more assistance was provided in getting set up. China should allow me to get the idea of whats involved so that I can look to working in Vietnam in the future.
While in Hanoi you must make time to go to Halong Bay (spend at least 1 night on a junk) and I would recommend going to Sapa in the highlands. Both places are very different but give you alternate perspectives of northern VN. My personal preference is the south from Danang down - will look to teach in Saigon. Who knows.....our paths may cross. Best of luck and keep us up to date on your travvels.
Cheers
Kate.
Hey Jane,
Sheesh? I 'd like to tell ya it does get easier, but then i'd be a liar! Just keep a clear head and don't get annoyed. You should find it a little easier now after that weekend course! Are you doing the special mods too? Cos there are assignments for those also. Sorry to be short, but i've snapped little toe doing Kung Fu last night so I gotta try and drive to the hospital to get it x-rayed and go through all that 'carry on'. Blahh!
Speak sooon!
Hi Jane! How'd the weekend go? I had a blast, except that the tutor got me learning bloody Urdu on the first day and presenting it to the class!! What a nightmare! I kept forgetting what i was trying to teach and just froze. Felt like legging it at that point, but the rest of the people were amazing and made me feel like it didn't even happen. The second day went brilliant, couldnt have been happier with what i did for the second practise. Didn't take many notes, it was so intense. Basically collapsed when i got home, not sure if it was because I was knackered or that all my beers had disappeared from the fridge while i was away! Doh! Hope your weekend went just as well.
Hi jane, I will be doing the weekend course in london mayfair so not near you i'm afraid.
Goodluck on the course.
Hey Hey. Sorry not been in contact since your last PM but for some reason since I finished work and move back up to Shrewsbury I've been completely unmotivated to do ANYTHING. It's quite annoying actually, I finished work with the plan to get stuck into all this and I thought getting accepted would give me a nudge but after loading up and staring at the online course I just gave up again.
Tomorrow! Tomorrow is the day I will start doing stuff, I will use today as my last day to do the boring in house stuff (Washing, Food Shopping... have a shave, maybe) and then tomorrow throw myself into the world of TEFL!
Be interested to hear about the weekend course, got mine mid May. Good luck!
Oh just read about your pre-august plans, shame I'll be heading over Russia and N. China around then so can't make the detour. Sounds like your going to have a blast though!
Thank you for your comments Jane! I really liked your quote about keeping my head safe. Your advice made me feel better about going. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in August.
Hey Jane. Any news, have you decided yet?
I've heard that I should be hearing something back this week (no word yet) and don't know if that will be a deicsion or just confirmation that they have my application!? Ah well.
Yeah I think im stuck where you are on Grammer done the first multiple choice and cant bring myself to do the 2nd or the tutor marked bit, I havent done any since we met so much for my motivational talk about how it powers you on after the weekend course!
Arrrgh it sounds like no-one is hearing back about their applications at the minute, I'm sure either way things will work out great for you (I hope you come to China with us though)
