Hey Jade-Louise

How are you? Thanks for the friend request, accepted and welcomed :)

Are you living in the UK right now? I will be starting my TEFL course next month and am not quite sure where to go with it. I moved to The Netherlands back in December and I'm thinking of staying here permanently so I know the course will be a big benefit to me here. Are you thinking of doing an intermship or learning to teach somewhere else?

Like my profile says I travelled a lot since I was (about!) 21 and would recommend to anyone to get out and see the world, don't let anyone or anything hold you back. Confidence comes with practice and with time. I myself used ot be a very shy and quiet boy in my school days but once I was out in the world I became very confident. I went from being a boy who wouldn't dare stand up in front of my friends just to tell a joke to someone who was holding meetings for over 200 people at one point so the confidence just came with the time and experience and it will with you too!

I'm glad you got in touch and if there is anything you would like to know about the places I have been to or my experiences please just ask and I will be more than happy to pass on my knowledge and help.

Good luck with the course and the choices you make :)

Andrew

Hey Jade-Louise,

Welcome to Chalkboard. That's great you're looking for a new challenge - TEFL can definitely be that! Don't worry about not being confident, I was the same until I took the classroom TEFL course! Is there any countries in particular that you would like to go to?

To get you started on the site you may want to take a look at the groups. You can read about lots of peoples experiences in different countries to give you a good idea of what teaching abroad is like:

Enjoy the site and feel free to ask me any questions you have :-)
