I have to say I had a good experience with CHC too, they treated me pretty well. Was Rene there when you were there? He's probably the most helpful person I know! He spends all his time running about helping the teachers get what they need and turned up when I was in hospital to exert his calming influence and get me out of that rather horrible place without too much stress. I don't know how they managed pre-Rene... they also now have a guy called Cesar who seems pretty much to be in charge of the Riofrio school and will sort you out when you need help like going to the doctors and stuff.
I knew Clare fairly well, she and Lola used to put on the best parties in town... plus they both gave me loads of really useful advice when I first arrived, which I really appreciated. It's easy to feel all at sea when you first get there.
Charles was really my best friend in Ecuador, we had a lot of fun together - he's still there, in Machala, but leaving this year.
What are you doing now then? I'm in Spain but I'd love to go back to Ecuador, just for 6 months maybe.....
Hi Alix,
Yip, I think I left just before you arrived. I knew Charles when I was in Loja, but I wasn´t that friendly with him because we sorta ran in different circles. I was one of 3 Irish girls that were in Loja around that time;here was myself, one of my best friends Michelle and another girl called Clare. Although I´m sure you met Clare as she stayed on after I left. I hope you had a great time in Ecuador like I did, it´s such an amazing country!
Laura
Hi Laura,
I think I've heard of you in Loja! Were you friends with Charles?
I was there for a year and as you probably know, teachers are always talking about each other... I dread to think what they said about me when I left! It's not hard to create a stir in that town. Anyway, some people mentioned two Irish girls who'd been there shortly before I arrived and I wondered if you were one of them?
