How to enter
- Film a day in your TEFL life – check out the tips on the right to get you started
- Upload your video to YouTube*
- Add your YouTube clip to Chalkboard
- Get some votes! Share your video with friends, family, students… whoever!
There’s lots more tips and tricks on the Day in the Life of a TEFL Teacher group on Chalkboard. Remember, you don't need to be teaching abroad - you could be teaching at home, or perhaps doing a spot of volunteer teaching. No matter where you're teaching we want to see what you're up to!
*If you’re in a country where YouTube is banned, such as China, please sign-up to a file-sharing site such as Dropbox, add your video to it then send an email to chalkboard@i-to-i.com letting us know where to find it and we’ll upload it for you!
The Judges
Get enough votes from your friends and family to make it through to the final and your work is done! Our panel of expert judges will then decide on a winner out of the eight finalists. Here’s who you’re trying to impress:
-
Kenneth Beare
Kenneth’s an expert when it comes to teaching English, having worked as a teacher and trainer across Europe and North America. Kenneth now runs esl.about.com, a fantastic TEFL resource, and a new project focusing on English for specific purposes, lingofeeds.com.
Emma Foers
Emma’s no stranger to the day-to-day life of a TEFL teacher, having taught in Japan, Egypt, Italy and Portugal. She’s now back in her native Yorkshire working as an online tutor for i-to-i, helping budding teachers flourish on the online TEFL course and solving their TEFL dilemmas on Chalkboard.
Honor Baldry
Honor is Chalkboard’s site editor, and loves nothing better than hearing about people’s TEFL adventures abroad since, as you can see from her video, a day in her life certainly isn’t that interesting!
The Rules
- No purchase necessary
- Only one entry per person
- Supporters can only vote once for each entry
- Keep it clean! Any video which is judged to be unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable will be deleted
- The eight entrants with the most votes for their videos will be entered into the final
- The winner will then be decided by the panel of judges, whose decision is final
- The eight finalists will be announced on June 9th 2010 at 11am (GMT). Videos or votes entered after this date will not be counted.
- The winner will be announced on June 25th 2010, after the panel of judges have decided on a winner from the eight finalists.
- Any votes registered to malinator, squirrelmail, guerrillamail, mailcatch or similar ‘spam’ email addresses will not be counted. Voters’ email addresses may be checked to verify their votes.
- Don’t spam other members… leaving the same message on hundreds of people’s walls on Chalkboard asking for a vote isn’t going to get results!
- In the event of voting irregularities the decision of i-to-i UK Ltd is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- The winner will be notified via email on June 25th 2010
- The prize includes one of the 2-week trips featured and £500 (or equivalent in another currency) towards flights.
- The money towards flights will be reimbursed to you after you book your flight. If your flight costs less than £500 we will pay the full cost of your flight. If it costs more than £500 we will pay you £500 towards flights. Receipts will be required, so hold onto that paperwork! This allowance can only be used towards flights to and from your i-to-i trip.
- By entering the competition and adding your video to Chalkboard you agree to give i-to-i full lifetime permission to use your footage in promotional materials and on their websites.
- You also agree that, if requested, you will give i-to-i access to your original video footage.
- The prize is not transferable to another person
- No part of a prize is exchangeable for cash or any other prize
- This competition is being run by i-to-i UK Ltd of Woodside House, Low Lane, Leeds, LS18 2NY
