7 Tips to Help You Complete the Online TEFL Course!

Good news! There is no set time frame to complete your online TEFL course. Some people may take less time; some may take more, it really depends on your ability to take in the information and your success in the assessments.

From our experience, if you follow these bullet points your experience of the course will be much more enjoyable, and you'll be able to take on-board the concepts easier!* Do take your time and think about what you are learning. You’ll enjoy the course more and you'll also feel more confident about your teaching skills.

* You won't be able to absorb all of the information this course has to offer if you attempt to do it without considerable reflection. It might also be necessary to refer to a grammar book.

* If you are going to work on the course modules for long sessions, we recommend that you take a 15 minute break for every hour you work. Do something different that diverts your attention and allows you to return focused, relaxed and refreshed!

* As with any course, you'll get as much out of it as you put into it. If you work hard and put the necessary time, energy and commitment into the lessons, you will emerge with the skills and knowledge necessary to be a fantastic teacher.

* We also recommend reading around the subject. Most good book shops have a TEFL section and an internet search will also supply you with additional information and ideas. One of the reasons that there are so many reference books is that everyone processes information differently, and teachers teach differently; it’s sometimes helpful to look at things from a different point of view.

* With regard to teaching practices, there is not always one correct answer or one correct opinion and at times your answers will be based on your personal views and preferences.

* Tempting as it may be to take answers from someone offering you them, it simply won't do you any favours in the long run, we can assure you of that! Plagiarism is taken very seriously by our tutors and they're hot at catching people out - you have been warned! You'll thank us when you're standing in your first classroom and it all falls in to place!

These are just a few of the tips we can offer you! Everyone is completely different and will approach the course in different ways.

What tips would you offer to others in the same boat as you?

Just thought of another tip - SAVE SAVE SAVE! To quote the course "Timing out is a security feature of all servers and i-to-i gives you approximately 30 minutes access before it times out. Therefore we always recommend that you put together your written work on your own computer and copy and paste it into the course."
