Ni Hao!
Welcome to the wonderful world of the China Internship - August 2011 style!
We know that you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seats to hear about what they’ve been getting up to, how they’re settling in…and most importantly of course…what they’ve been eating.
Yes, we’ll get to the other important topic of teaching fairly soon, but first we wanted to bring you the rundown of the 14 day orientation in Beijing; it’s a great way to ensure a smooth landing and a smoother onward journey in China. We received the pictures from the Teach & Travel China team on a grey drizzly morning and almost booked the next flight to China to join in the fun.
We hope you like the images!
August 2011 China Internship Orientation - In Pictures:
The interns arrive with no dramas, and get straight down to business with a welcome dinner. And what better way to say welcome to China than by offering the interns such local delicacies as scorpions, starfish and seahorses! No one is under any obligation to eat them, but the interns dive in with gusto!

Mmmmmm things from the sea on a stick...life doesn't get any better...

Everyone gives it a try! 'When in China' and all that...

Not sure how we feel yet about the concept of eating seahorses, we grew up loving them and seeing them in animated films, now we have to EAT THEM?! At least put them in batter so it's not as obvious that they are seahorses...

"I'm a China Intern...Get Me Out of Here!" Similar to a television show in the UK where minor celebrities are left in a jungle (and filmed, of course) and eat all kinds of witchety grubs, the interns are not doing this for any kind of television show though! Oh no! They're in China and in the mood for trying new things!
One more scary food photo for good measure..

Go on...eat it!
Next it's time for a Mandarin lesson!

Oh yeah... "Baba Chi Li" Got it! Let's go! What next?
How about Tai Chi?

Show us your moves Interns!

Looks good fun hey? We'll bring you more photos next week and more updates of how the teaching is going too, we just wanted to slow it down a little and share some of these fun photos with you. See - TEFL can be fun!
