Hi TEFLers!
I've deleted queen01's spam account and another 2 spam accounts this morning, and just wanted to keep you in the loop as I know these annoying spammers are a real nuisance on here.
The trouble is that the spammers you see on here don't seem to be robots, which is annoying as they'd be a lot easier to keep off the site if it was all being done by robots and not people!
At the moment, the best I can do is ban them and delete them AFTER they might have potentially sent a spam message, however I'm working on this with the IT team to see what else we can do to solve this -there must be a way!
I'm aware that a certain spammer uses the same process for each new account, but they'll have to get up earlier in the morning to trick me - I know you're a spammer! Banned and deleted is all you're getting.
We get a report as soon as someone sends spam so we can easily go and find them and delete them, but I do appreciate any messages from you telling me you've been spammed, they're all helpful in moving faster.
Be reassured if you have received a message that you can't read, it's because it is spam and nothing else, and we've already banned the user which means you can't read the message. If you had a genuine message on here, you'd be able to view it.
Enjoy Chalkboard everyone, let us worry about battling the spammers and you can carry on enjoying the site in peace.
Katie

queen20 also just spammed me :)
I think changes need to be made to new user privileges, an obvious one being not having permission to post links/PM anyone until you've made 10 posts. This must be easy enough to implement as quite a few forums I use do just that. You could also limit the number of posts a user could make within a certain timeframe. More serious measures involve banning certain IP addresses, and only allowing students (both current and past) to have accounts.
