Our most comprehensive course, the 140 hour Combined TEFL Course is celebrating its first birthday this month (they grow up so fast!). Since its launch, thousands have enrolled on this course and seen their TEFL dreams come to life. Here is what just a few i-to-i’s graduates had to say about the course:
“I found the course very good, especially the grammar section. I had lost touch with grammar since primary school. I'm glad I took up this course and learnt it all over again. And I certainly enjoyed answering the quiz at the end of each module, as it allows myself to see how much I had learnt from each module.” Vivian Chua
“I found the course quite in depth and interesting and I have gained enough knowledge to go on and teach. The best part of the course for me was the practical part which was a two day seminar which was both fun and interesting. I could not rate the teacher more highly.” Ian Foster
“The practical was the best part. I met like-minded people and had fun whilst getting a decent chunk of the course done and a good deal of knowledge under my belt. I think most places in China look favourably on the 140 Hour Combined Course - it was necessary for my job. The course has helped greatly. Most of it is common sense, but it gives you confidence, which is more important than anything when out here.Teaching here in China is the best career move I’ve made as the teaching lifestyle here is one that is very comfortable.” Alex Coffey
“I decided to go for the 140 hour Combined Course over the other courses because I thought the more you learn the better. I also chose it over the other courses because in some places like Japan for example you needed at least a 140 hour course so I thought instead of closing doors on myself I'll open as many as I can. The parts I enjoyed the most in the course were the videos at the end of the checkpoint. They really gave me that extra boost to keep trying and in a way they remind you of why you started the course in the first place. The course has helped me improve my grammar a lot and made me feel better with myself.” Andrea Bell
“I wanted to have as many opportunities for learning available to me as I could, and found that the 140 Hour Combined Course offered the best of both online and offline worlds at a price that was good value for money. Overall, I found the course well structured, interesting and fun. I have been very happy with the course, as well as the tutors and the additional resources (such as TEFL TV and the lesson plans) that have been offered. I think my favourite parts of the course have been the lesson planning and the 20 hour weekend course. My 20 hour course tutor, Amelia Caruso, was fantastic, offering lots of ideas and support throughout the weekend, as well as being friendly and very funny. What I have learnt on the course has helped me to understand the hard work that teachers put into their classes every single day! The course has helped me with my research skills, my grammar skills, time management skills.... the list goes on. The course has also kept me motivated both in the job I was doing at the time I started the course, and in my current job. I also feel that the course has taught me a lot about myself and what I am good at, as well as what I need to work on.” Rachel Bone
“I thought the weekend course was amazing!! I was very scared about it at first, but the people I met there were lovely, and so was the instructor. I also feel that I learned a lot about lesson planning and I wasn't as scared when I held my first lesson alone, just a few weeks later!” Ingrid Mocanu
“I decided to do the complete 140 hour course because I wanted to get as much TEFL experience as possible before looking for a job. There is so much help available that it worked out even better value for money. I like that the tutors give feedback on assignments and give you a more personalized service. I was actually surprised at how extensive the English language was and so I am glad I chose the full course as I feel confident enough to be able to deliver a lesson now. The course has been very enjoyable. Even though I work full-time whilst I am studying I like the fact that I can do it at my own pace and that there is a lot of help available to me. The part I enjoyed the most would have to be the classroom courses as I have made some friends out of it that I have kept in touch with and it's nice to call on each other if we get stuck on a question. The grammar sections was my problem area, but the course is very detailed without being overly complicated and it's well planned out into manageable sections. I was actually surprised at how extensive the English language was and so I am glad I chose the full course as I feel confident enough to be able to deliver a lesson now.” Jennifer Levy
So, if you’ve done the 140 Hour Combined Course, how did you find it?!

I have found the 140 hr course so far very usefull especially the weekend course where you get practical help and its like a classroom environment and learning and teaching is fun. I have also found the grammar and the specialist modules very very good for indept understanding. I think its a must in order to get the full benefit of the Tefl course to go with the total 140 hrs to prepare for teaching and with experience teacing can be enjoyable.
I have found the online a bit hard in places and getting help has been virtually impossible as the tutor makes comments but still its confusing as its not in lamens terms sometime the tutors assume you know it and really you dont have a clue so researching alternative methods can be time consuming and not good especially if you have a full-time job to do alongside the course.
Overall I think the course is enjoyable but time consuming and can take over your life till its complete.
