You can learn to teach English, on a computer?! Yup, that’s right: with just a computer, the right online TEFL course and a smidge of effort, you can get the industry standard of 120 hours of TEFL training. “But how the heck does that work?” we hear you ask. Well, our TEFL tutors have been teaching overseas for years, and they’ve put together a practical course that’ll keep you engaged from the first moment to the last. Find out more below.
No preparation needed
All you need to get started on an online course is a computer: no textbooks have to be bought, no pre-reading is needed, and no extra equipment is necessary. The only preparation we’d recommend is to make sure your mindset is right, especially if you want to get the course done quickly.
Practical activities
You don’t need to sit in a classroom to become a TEFL teacher. Yes, the i-to-i’s online TEFL courses will teach you the essential concepts of the English language, such as grammar, that every teacher needs to know. But look at the modules on the 60 Hour Online TEFL Course and you’ll see one phrase over and over again: “How to teach”. You’ll also learn fun activities that cover everything from using a whiteboard appropriately, to recreating popular game shows that’ll get your students excited about learning English.
Expert support
You’ll never be left to fend for yourself on i-to-i’s online TEFL courses, and if you have any questions, there’ll be someone on hand to help out. For most stuff, we have the TEFL Helpdesk, who can usually get you back on track if you get stuck. But if your problem is beyond even their mystical powers, they’ll pass your question onto one of our expert tutors. Your tutor will also read through your work at the end of each module and provide detailed feedback, so you’ll know exactly where to improve.
Grammar genius
Most of i-to-i’s online TEFL courses include the handy Grammar Awareness Module, which lays English grammar out in a simple-to-understand format; so you can teach even the trickiest of grammar concepts with total confidence.
Watch and learn
The TEFL in Action Course is a great way to see those experienced TEFL tutors in action and consolidate all of the new skills you’ve learnt. Included in the 120 Hour Online TEFL Course, the eight videos and subsequent questions will inspire you, help you to adapt your lessons to different classes and teach you the skills to analyze your performance so you can make your lessons even better.
Extra resources
i-to-i’s online TEFL courses don’t just give you access to the information in each module; you’ll also be offered a wealth of extra resources. We point you towards websites and books that can further expand your learning and offer you a different perspective on classroom management, correcting mistakes and all the other skills that make a good TEFL teacher. On top of that, you’ll have access to our database of 8,000 job contacts, so you’ll have a great chance of finding work once you’re qualified!

Hi,
You have 90 days initially, but you can extend this for a small fee if you need to.
Enjoy the rest of your course!
Thanks Honor.
Great advice.
Do you know how long you get until the course expires? Is it like a year?
Thanks
Hey,
You should be fine going straight into the weekend course without doing any of the online course - that's what I did and didn't have any problems.
Once you work through each module you can still access the learning materials for that module until your course expires. Lots of people copy and paste stuff into Word and save the PDFs on their own computer to get round this - once you've got the material on your own computer it's yours to keep.
Good luck with your course - keep us posted with how you get on :)
Hi, I just bought the 120 hour course which include a weekend classroom part. I was wondering if you thought it was OK to go into the weekend part without doing any of the online material or if it would make it easier to do the online part first so you know more for the in-class practice?
Also, with the 100 hours of online modules, once you have completed each of the modules are you still allowed access to the study materials or is that then removed? It's just that I don't have much time at the moment and don't want to rush into them if i can't go back later and go over it.
Thanks
