Monkey Around in Thailand for Five Months!

Head to Thailand for five TEFLtastic months of teaching experience, with full support, training and some very cheeky monkeys on the new Teach in Thailand Internship – the perfect option if you’ve never taught abroad before.

Before you touch down in Thailand in October, you’ll complete at least 120 hours of TEFL training and be given bags of teaching tips from i-to-i’s expert tutors. So, you’ll be ready and raring to go when you face your students for the first time.

Because i-to-i and their partners, the Lawoe School of Technology, have designed this program specifically for TEFL beginners, there’s no need to have any previous teaching experience. As long as you’re a graduate from the UK, US, NZ, AU, CA or IE who’s over 21 you’ll be welcome to apply.

When you touch down in Bangkok come October, you’ll have an amazing five day orientation – a great chance to meet your fellow interns and see some sights on a free city tour. i-to-i’s in-country partners, the Lawoe School of Technology, will also give you a handy introduction to Thai culture and language, essential for helping you to make the most of your time in Thailand.

Almost all intern placements are based in and around the ancient city of Lopburi, around 150kms north of Bangkok, where you’ll head after your orientation finishes to settle into your pre-arranged accommodation. This isn’t where the support stops though. After you start your pre-arranged internship, you’ll continue to get 24/7 in-country support, with a local mentor on hand to make sure you’re settling into life in Lopburi.

Simon Lemon, an i-to-i graduate who taught in Thailand, said: “I am writing to thoroughly recommend your in-country contacts. I was bowled over with my first night in Asia – I guess it was culture shock! Your team helped me have a smoother introduction to an unfamiliar country.

“I was picked up from the airport, treated to a top-notch Thai meal, taken to meet fellow teachers and went on a night out in Bangkok. Your team went out of their way to help settle me in; I felt incredibly welcome.”

Living in Lopburi will enable you to see a side of Thailand that most travellers miss – it is not only home to two historic Khmer temples, but laid-back night markets, sensational street food and some very mischievous crab-eating macaques – the infamous monkeys who call downtown Lopburi their home… Plus, as you’ll be living and working in Lopburi, rather than just visiting, you’ll soon feel like a local in this amazing city.

And with all interns based in and around Lopburi, you certainly won’t be the only farang (foreigner) in town. There’ll always be someone to share experiences and compare notes with. That’s before you even get started on all the Thai English teachers at your school who’ll be more than happy to welcome you to Lopburi and show you the best places to go.

Then, after five fantastic months living and working in Lopburi you’ll celebrate the end of your internship with an end-of-semester beach party on the gorgeous island of Koh Samet. All the interns team up to run a Beach Olympics with local kids before having a massive BBQ dinner.

And, after all that teaching experience you’ll be well-qualified to continue your TEFL adventure elsewhere in Thailand or anywhere in the world. If you want to take part you’ll need to be quick though – there are only limited spots available. Reserve yours today by visiting http://www.onlinetefl.com/teaching-internships/thailand-lopburi.
