Chalkboard is i-to-i's TEFL community.
It is currently still in testing phase which could mean you find the odd bug!
Q: What is i-to-i Chalkboard? A: It's the online community of TEFL specialists i-to-i.com

Your friendly Chalkboard site editor (yes, that's generally me hiding behind the i-to-i account...hello!)
Have taught EFL in Beijing, China to university students and had a blast - although wish I'd done a TEFL course before I went out - was a bit of a haphazard, bumbling mess for quite a lot of my contract!
Not much else to add really - I like travel (of course!), curry, radio 4 and dancing badly...

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHey honor, I was thinking of either staying on in China on my own (teaching - finding my own contracts) or working through i-to-i to work in Indonesia - I gave my information through the Job Placement services and I was wondering (since I haven't heard anything yet from them) if there is any other information about the Indonesian jobs available and how that all works - I would most likely be flying from China to Indonesia as well when I do it (trying for a smooth transition). I also sent a message to a Robert fellow who has been to both Indonesia and China - do you know where I can find other info or if i-to-i has any other material other than what is on the site?
hey honor,
i was thinking about the 120 hours, i think i already know the answer and i'll probably enroll after the 22 of august because i work a bit to much at the moment to really focus on the course
Hey Honor!
I just got back from Europe actually and now I am looking to head to Asia or Australia. I see you've done this before, which is awesome. Is there a difference between the TEFL and TESOL courses (besides which sites offer them)? Also I see you've been to teaching abroad before. Is there a way to secure a position before you complete the online course?
Cheers,
Tyler
Hi, Honor, thank you for the welcome, and what a pretty name you have, i might add. Yes, the Alps offered some grand living; actually, Europe living in general was so refreshingly healthy compared to my States-side life. Would be attracted to going back again once I am certified, no doubt, but also have my eyes open to other places as well. So, we'll see! I see you were in China...sounds like it was a blast?
Ciao,
Michael
Hi Honor,
Thanks for the welcome and helpful links! Hope to share some stories soon - Chris :)
Hi Honor, thanks for the welcome I want to teach in Malang because i've been there a couple of times and love the place also have friends there Jenny
Hi Honor,
Thanks for the warm welcome, and I will definitely join a group or two to get better informed. As for where I'd like to go, I'm thinking Asia since so many opportunities are there; I'm specifically interested in the China internship in February. Hopefully I'll get the chance to talk to an advisor soon about where to go from here. Thanks again =]
Maria
Thanks Honor. Good to know
Hey guys,
You get the hard copy of your certificate in the post 3-4 weeks after completing your whole course. If you're on the internship it's slightly different though, as your certificate includes details of the teaching practice you've done while in China, so it'll be waiting for you when you get home.
In the meantime, you can always print off the PDF versions of your certificates from your online course.
Hope that helps - any more questions let me know!
Ya - Beth and I were at the same weekend course - and I still haven't received that certificate in the mail but had it online - should I expect that before Aug 15 (aka when I leave for china internship)?
