Hi Holly,
Sorry for the delayed response! There were very few interns on the Lawoe program in the last round of the internship, so don't think any pics of the accommodation ended up on Chalkboard. However, Masako (the program coordintor) should have some pics of typical accommodation, so I'd advise dropping her an email - sure she'd be happy to help.
Hope all goes well with the internship - keep in touch with how you get on!
Hey Holly yeah that pic is from the set of home and away in Sydney..spent a year in oz working and travelling. Are you all signed up for the May 2011 trip to thailand? I am still undecided...
Hey holly, yeah people were placed together, some werent but if they shouted about it they got moved to be together, imagine with the new company you'll have a better chance of being together anyway! dont worry bout it!
The teaching is hard work, my advice is dont worry about bringing anything with you! I spent a fortune on books and bringing stuff here for school but could have saved the money and space by buying it here! asia books even has loads of tefl teaching books in most cities!
If you dont know where or what age your teaching theres no point in bringing stuff, even if your instincts want you too! most schools are well stocked and you can print out flashcards etc!
Most classes are huge so expect to be teaching groups of up to 60 kids (all my classes are 40 - 60 kids) so pay lots of attention to that part of the tefl, if your in a private school you'll have smaller and more well behaved classes.
I started off hating the teaching, I totally despaired at my huge, naughty classes but if you stick with it youll get into the swing of it and it'll become fun! You'll love it, just be realistic in your expectations of yourself!
good luck with the application!
