TEFL without a degree?!

Hey guys!

I'm a new member to the chalkboard, so i was wondering if someone could help me get on my feet..

I have completed the 120 hour tefl course, but I have no degree. Where are the best places for me to try and find a teaching placement??

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Peace

ha! I've just read your 'about me' and you're so young, why not try and get a degree??? I'd do it but I'd be nearly 50 before I was through it... 20?? Life ticking away??? I hope you're not one of these strange people who thinks 30 is old?  Let me tell you Matt, you don't even get into your stride until you're 30, and right now I'm really wishing I had a degree on account of all those much better paid jobs and all those other countries i could teach in if I had one.

I'd recommend Ecuador, it's easy to find work and then you'll have experience which makes life much easier in the future.  I'm getting work in Spain without a degree but it would be harder without experience.

I've written a few blogs about it, as have Kallen, Kittyvic and Bazteach, so there's plenty of info.

I'd also recommend a bit of volunteer work in your home country if possible, looks a bit better on your cv - you know, makes it obvious you're pro-active etc, plus gives you some valuable insights about what to expect!

Hello and welcome!

I think you'll find this article useful, it's called 'No Degree? No Problem You can Still Teach Abroad!'
It contains details of countries where it is possible to secure work without a degree as well as information about what to expect!

Feel free to take a look at our e-book called TEFL Uncovered. This also contains details about the requirements needed to teach in different countries and can be found here:

Hope this helps!
