Well the Chinese certainly know how to set off a firework or two! There has been nothing but the sound of them booming all around for the last five days, throughout the night too so not much rest for the wicked. It's been a thoroughly enjoyable experience though and so pretty to watch (although I probably wouldn't recommend to anyone of a nervous disposition). Ok, I admit all i've done since i've got to Sanlitun Hostel is pretty much eat & sleep! Things were so hectic for all of xmas,NY,I moved house twice as well as just about completed the online course(despite being limited on the internet for exceeding my fair useage policy),throw in the very fond farewells & I was absolutely exhausted both physically & emotionally so figured I deserved a break! My schools finished on the 24th December and went to the office to get paid after work, because they didn't want to pay me the day before. They were supposed to pay me 2500 yuan (1 month salary), 2500 yuan (completion bonus) and 250 yuan (train ticket to Beijing) so a total of 5250 yuan. They wanted to pay me only 810 yuan instead. I had to argue with them and phone TTC a couple of times. People from the office in Changchun didn't want to get into the phone. Anyway, a long story. I spent three hours arguing with them but I couldn't stay any longer because I was going to take my train back that night. I managed to get 3700 yuan in the end. I took the money and left. I was really angry and upset. My internship was such a disaster! However, after that I travelled around China for two weeks and spent another two weeks holidays in Thailand and a week in Barcelona, which was all brilliant. I arrived back in the UK yesterday and am trying to find a job now. I hope things work out better for you than they did for me. Good luck! :D
