I recieved the Thai Visa papers and details about how to apply the other day. It says we have to go to the Thai Consulate in Hull and personally hand in the papers. Also, it says we can only apply for only a 3 month visa when we are working there for 5 month, and we have to pay £45 for it. Anyone recieved the letter yet? Could any of you shine any light on this?

Hi Mowen,

I haven't received a letter just seen the email and looked on the Thai consulate website. It says on there you can apply by post or person.

http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/downloads-and-visas.aspx Have a look at the rules and regulations section, it might clear things up.

I know you guys are in the UK and I am in the US, if it is not too much hassle to go in person I would do that, when I got my visa for China I went in person, found out I was missing my itinerary, which I was able to run and use an internet cafe to print out real quick then I handed everything in in a matter of 10 mins or less then I went back in 2 days and picked it up and paid again within a matter of 10 mins, so not sure how busy the office is or how far away it is but in person is faster, that way you know if you have a mistake and are missing something and you get it quicker (at least in the states)

Well which instruction do we follow? The Thai Consulate or AYC? I'm a bit worried sending my passport in the post as well, 10days before we fly out!

I have just contacted i-to-i and they told me to just apply for the single entry unless I'm planning on leaving the country in the first 30days, and the visa will be updated to extend to 6 months when we get there. Also with the single entry you don't have to keep going to the boarder to update it. Hope that helps.

You don't have to goto the Hull consulate, you can apply by post.

If you're doing a 5 month placement and intend to stay on after it, apply for a 1 year visa, cost is 99 pounds.

Is it really impossible to get a working visa in thailand with no degree? I will be ringing the embassy in london on Monday to check and then ring the i-2-i guys for a bit of advice, but do any of you have an idea? I have started my tefl course but am a bit worried i'll never have the balls to use it on my own. The Thailand internship starts at exactly the right time for me and having been there before i am comfortable with the culture and the way things work out there. Perfect except for that darned degree bussiness... anyone know any universities handing out degrees in life expereince???!!! lol
