I'm not too worried about this bomb scare, seems like very localised violence. The only thing that's gonna kill me is cigarettes!

Hi there Honor, and i-to-i there seems to be a larger issue with receiving our paperwork in time to make the flight in time with visa in hand. I have sent an email to the support team but have not heard any difinitives. how can we get answers to these type of important questions?

Hey Jen,

As Jill's mentioned to you, we're just waiting for an answer back from AYC about your visa situation and will be chasing them today. As you're from the US it can take a little while to get your proper visa, so we're looking at you getting a tourist visa and then changing it over once you're in country. We just need confirmation from AYC that it's OK for you to do this. We're hoping to get answers to this sometime today, but as you can understand we want to be 100% sure before we advise you of which visa to get.

Any other questions get in touch!

Heya, I'm from the UK and will be flying out for the internship for 17th May, very excited and looking forward to meeting you all there! Just a little anxious that I'm still waiting for my visa documents, I hope they come through soon so I can book my flight... AYC seem to be cutting it very fine! Also, where would our orientation be taking place if not in Bangkok due to the violence etc?

Hello! I was told the internship starts on May 24th, but I see some of you mentioing that we need to be there by May 17th! Am I missing something here ??

Hey Frankie,

Yes, you have to wait for your visa invitation letter, which will be sent to you via express delivery from Thailand. Once you have this you can go and apply for your Non-B visa at the Thai embassy in Dublin (http://www.thaiconsulateireland.com/). Once you have your visa you can book flights. If you want you can chance it and book your flights before you get your visa, but obviously there is the risk that you might not get your visa (a low risk albeit!)

Hope that all makes sense - any questions get in touch.

Hey Aparna,

It's definitely starting on the 17th! Did Morgan, who booked you on, tell you something different?

Christine, don't worry too much about visas - you're from the UK, which means you can get your visa on the same day if you go to the embassy in person, or they usually take 24 hours to process if you post them. There's more details here, but AYC will give you full guidance about how to apply for your visa: http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/

In light of the current political situation in Bangkok we're working with AYC to see whether Bangkok is the best place to hold the orientation. Whatever happens you'll still be flying into Bangkok, so you don't need to worry about flights etc. We'll keep you posted on any changes in the run-up to May 17th.

Any other questions let me know!

Hi,

Just commenting on the political tension really....one of your cooleagues at i-to-i assured me that we WILL NOT be placed anywhere that the British Foreign Office advises against......HOWEVER after the barricades the FCO now strictly advise against ALL but essential travel to the whole of Thailand....not just Bangkok.

Will it be a case of waiting to see if their advice changes nearer the time then???

Hi,

In light of the current FCO advice we're going to be calling all interns before the end of today (Wednesday) to chat about the situation in Thailand, implications for you and possible changes to the internship program. Don't worry if you miss the call as we'll be sending you an email too.

Aoife, not sure what's going on with James's letter - it may be that the instructions got left out - Rachel in our jobs team will be talking to the guys from AYC today, so we'll ask them about it and call/email James with some instructions.

Have you had your acceptance email from AYC yet? If you haven't that might be why you haven't had your employment documents sent out. If you have, hold tight, they should be coming in the next couple of days! Let us know either way on courses.teamuk@i-to-i.com if you don't hear anything by the end of the week.

Hey, so I'm wondering what people are planning now seeing as this has been postponed... Is everyone just waiting to see whether the situation will clear up or transferring to another program? So frustrating.

I've gone ahead and switched to November. Still no Visa documents.

AYC and I-to-I has sent us an email on dress code, I'm sure you'll have had it by now. I got my Visa today, but I got SINGLE entry non-immigrant B and the email I just recieved from I-to-I says that we should be getting MULTIPLE entry non-immigrant B visas. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I've sent them an email on the subject.

If it helps anyone, it took my documents 3 days to arrive from Thailand, hope that gives you an idea of the kind of wait time to expect.

Are people getting single or open-return flights?

I'm (probably) flying with 'EVA Air', leaving Sunday 21:35, landing Monday 15:05. This is one-way, £389 and no stops, so eleven and a half hours duration. If anyone else is getting the same flight come say hi to me in the airport!

Matt, a single entry non- immigrant B is all you need.  It's valid for 90 days, in which time the school will submit all the relevant paper work to get you a work permit and then your non-immigrant B visa can be extended for the whole year.  There's absolutely no need for a multiple entry visa, it certainly won't take 3 months to get the work permit, meaning you would then have to leave the country and re-enter and get another 90 days, so don't worry about it.

i know this may come across as a dumb question to ask, but im going to ask it anyways.... So I went through TEFL-HEAVEN for my internship, and im reading that other people are going also on here, but I was just wondering are basically all these teaching english in thailand all basically the same company? as in will be all just be going together as one group?

also im hearing through the grapevine that some people are talking about them booking their own flights? dont the company do this for you etc?

anyways they'll probably be alot more questions poping up in the near future, so ill just leave it at that for the moment lol
