Hi,

I have a feeling you need to have started the course by sometime in July? That may be wrong, so double-check. But I think the cut-off point for the Internship is basically when the places run out. I literally just decided to go, so I'm getting it all booked this week!

Well the intership with the 140 hour course is £1,300, but the flights are around £450, and you need to pay for visa and insurance (I reckon that will be around £200-300?) Also, you need to think about the vaccinations...I'm British too, so I hope, thanks to the good ol' NHS, it won't cost too much. The initial cost is A LOT! But, just think, we gat an allowance and accommodation, so it's not too bad. Also, it is a once in a life time experience and I think that the internship is good because you're not out on your own, rather you have other interns in the same boat as you who can speak English :)

My advice is talk it over with people you trust to be honest with you and only do it if you're sure because it is 6 months in another country for a lot of money. That is my honest advice, I personally don't have many ties here and, although I'll miss my family and friends like crazy, I need to get out! Hope this helps, and best of luck!

Hi everyone!

I signed up for it today! Can't wait to meet everyone, it's just hit me how much there is to sort out!

Is anyone graduating this year? I'm a bit worried that they ask for a scan of our degree in the application package, but I won't physically have mine til late July at the earliest- don't really want to leave it that late!

@Fisher89, i know its crazy how much there is to organise! I am working full time, and although i already have the course done, just all the vaccines and flights and payments are so hard to get organised. Its scary i must admit.

@mmcclei1, you should give them a ring, thats how i did it. They are really friendly and helpful and answered all my questions really easily.

Just wondering also, for those who are signed up, I was told today we have to be over by the 10th of October on whatever flight we like. Anyone know what day they are going over? Trying to figure out flights so i can get them as cheap as possible. Wouldnt mind a few days to get used to the time change, weather etc.  I was looking at arriving on about the 7th.

I booked today! They told me that there are about 50 people already signed up, but they normally get about 100 by the end. QUite exciting! Just waiting to fill in the form and then hear back. How far is everyone else in the process?!

Hi everyone,

I am considering applying for this internship, I just wanted to know what the application process is like. I noticed that some of you have already started it, what kind of documentation would I need to prepare and is there an interview? Also I have already completed my TEFL certification, would any of you know if I would still have to do the 140 hours. I am in contact with some of their representatives, but I would love to hear from you! I am super excited, this seems like an awesome opportunity!! :)

@Fisher89- I'm also graduating this year, so I haven't got my degree certificate yet either. But I've filled in most of the paper work now, and they didn't mind. You can always talk to them over the phone about it.

@AmyDalton- I've requested to be part of the facebook group. It would be good to get to know people before we all leave.

Also, about the interview thing, has anyone done it already? I have to do it soon, and I'm not really sure what to expect. Like is it a proper interview, or just a chat?

Hey people!

I just signed up yesterday, can't wait to get out there! Am now incredibly poor though so here's to finding a weekend job whilst over there!

I was wondering how long it took the TEFL e-mail to come through for you guys? I've had my confirmation of purchase but nothing on the course yet.

And fisher, I asked about the degree thing because I'm not graduating until mid-July either and they say as long as you've explained the situation and have it scanned to them before you go there isn't too much of a problem.

Hi everyone!

Just took the plunge and booked the course! There are literally not enough hours in the day to organise everything but I am so excited! I have friends who went out last year and loved it. Can't wait to meet everyone and live Thai life! I haven't started my application yet, mainly because I can't find it! Can anyone give me any pointers? I think I might have to ring them anyways.

:)

Hi everyone!

I signed up yesterday and am now really excited, but anxious to start my course! How long did it take for everyone's course details to come through, because I still haven't had mine; just the order confirmation :(

Can't wait to get out there now though! See you there! :D

Hi all,

I signed two days ago and really excited and nervous too.

Does anyone have an idea of where you want to teach and what the locations are like? I have no idea!

See you all soon :)

Really tempted to go but does anyone know how much wage you actually get? I hear 10,000 Thai Baht is very low. Any ideas?

10000 bht is not much for Thai wages - normally you'd be looking at 20-30000 bht if you struck out on your own. Saying that tho accomodation is provided and you can buy meals for about 50 bht. The school may even cover some of these meals. So that would be 150 bht per day or 4500 bht per month. Round that up to $5000 bht to include snacks and alcohol and you're still left with half the living wage to spend. The Internship is not so much about making money as having a fun working holiday... If you're after higher wages I'd recomend striking out on your own and organising your own accomodation and placement. :) Hope this helps.

Hi everyone! I've been looking into TEFL and i-to-i for a while now and hoping to go on one of the internships next year. I was just wondering if any of you who are out there now have a blog on wordpress/blogger/something else, that you're using to discuss your adventures?

Amber :)

http://www.offexploring.com/nicgoestravelling - here you go Amber!

I try to stick to the positives, so give it a read for my Thailand experiences, but I'd recommend you also go here and read the accounts by some of the other interns.
