Hi everyone, I'm 99% there with picking up the phone and booking a place for the April/May Thailand Internship. (I was thinking of Camp America but decided against it because I need a completely diffierent culture to experience!) Before I do book, I have a few questions/reservations and I'm hoping you guys can help or point me in the right direction. My apologies if these questions have already been answered. 1. What is the accomodation like? I understand it's near each school, but I'd like to know in terms of living standards, what the rooms and facilities are like generally. If any one has pictures they can upload this would be very helpful. Are there western toilets? I'm v flexible in terms of living and I'm by no means expecting luxury but I'm neverthless curious because the placement will last for almost half a year. In day-to-day terms, what facilites are there for laundery/ironing? 2. I understand that the only holidays other than weekends are national holidays. My question is, do the schools have their own half-term or end of simester holidays? If no, then I imagine that travelling the country will be left till the end of the placement and i'm mindful of this in case I run out of money! lol 3. Anyone know how I can best arrange flights from the UK? I was thinking of booking via STA, but I've read on other forums that its cheaper to fly in to europe (Germany) and then get a flight to Thailand? I'm also assuming flights should be booked way in advance. 4. Emergencies. In the unlikely event I get Malaria or something, how does the medical side work? I will of course be obtaining med. insurance. 5. The first 4 questions were serious... What are the best things to take up/experience during my visit? Obviously everyone goes on about full moon parties and what not, but is there anything thats a must? Thanks guys. :) |
