It seems as though there are a few people looking to go to Indo in October / November. I'm trying to find a job there at the moment, but I'm thinking it might be getting to close to the end of the year. I have just sent an application off to English First and am awaiting a reply. Does any one know of any vacancies in or around Jakarta?

Just looking into starting a certification course, but since Indonesia seems to be one of the top places open to me as a non-degreed teacher, I'm very interested to see this thread develop. Glenn |

I am interested in teaching in Indonesia, I lived there for 8 years and did teach some school (without degree/cert) at a UNI and want to go back. Who knows more about offerings in JKT?I know were there are EF store fronts but what Ive heard is that they take a large chunk of your pay and unless you get side jobs-you don't make much. But I heard that when I lived there, so it wasn't very current. I know once you establish yourself, private jobs will surface as some of my old friends teach already and so do some of their kids-Indonesians want native speakers :) Privates pay well also-you can be a millionaire :) Do any of you know about the age limit I've read about? This ESL cert would be the entry into the country and without it, you can't stay more than 3 weeks-u can leave the country and come back-a trip to Malaysia will do. I'm 55 now and probably won't go till late this year of nest 2012. So, if they don't hire ppl over 50, Indonesia won't be the place to go-but htat's a shame because their isn't an age problem amongst the ppl, it must just be the companies that hire you. They respeact age and as long as you are ..cool...you can get by well. Any answers will do and if you need to know more about life over there-ask away-I LOVED IT and the people are great. Bye, Diana |
