Hi guys.... im doing my TEFL course and really want to work somewhere in spain... I guess i'll see where I can find work. Im new to this so if any one can shed some light that would be awesome.

How do people go about finding a place to stay? I'll be going by myself  to a new place place where I dont know any one and you cant exactly go up to people and say "Hey, my name is Marc would you like to be my brand new friend and find a flat to share"

Many schools will help you find somewhere to live. The schools I've worked at have always found the accommodation, and flatmates (usually other teachers) for me. In Spain if the school won't help you, or you are looking for a flat before a job, try Loquo (http://www.loquo.com/en_us). Choose your location from the left hand menu, and then click on 'Rooms for Rent/Shared'.

It's really easy to find an apertment in Spain, or a shared flat (piso).  Look in Loquo like Briona says, I found a place in 2 days.  I share with two young guys, they're really freindly.  It's exactly the same as looking for a flat anywhere else - it's much cheaper to rent a room in a shared apartment, I pay €290 a month inc broadband... probably a fair bit cheaper outside of Madrid.  Lots of people advertise a room going in a flat, so you don't have to find flatmates.

A few tips if you've no Spanish - piso means flat, compartido means shared, habitation means room, and fianza means deposit.  Some people even advertise in English.

Don't mean to sound negative- cos I don't mean it that way, but what makes you think other teachers are all 'on the same vibe'?  teachers are as varied as any other trade, it doesn't mean you'll get on with them, but it does mean you'll spend most of your spare time talking about work!

Well I thought most people doing this were keen to travel, meet new people! I guess you are right though. but im sure it will be an easier transition than staying by yourself.. haha yup dont really want to spend my spare time talking about work..! Its my first time so im still a rookie and dont really know how it all works

Marc - where is Spain are you going? if you come to Malaga or nearby, I have a beautiful house where i rent out rooms - we are a bit of a mad house, having teenagers and dogs, but we have great food and a pool and lots of fun. You can hire a bike to get to the train station , if you work in Malaga. We are in Mijas costa.

It s a good place to start - hot, cosmopolitan and safe. Not such a big city - but then id depends what you are looking for.

You can also try www.airbnb.com - this is where I advertise my house.

Good luck - you will enjoy Spain , it is a friendly place! I
