Hi you all,

Thought I would share some ways I have marketed my classes to my area.

There are some on-line advertising sites that offer free announcements of all kinds.  You can buy a pair of shoes or find an English teacher.

An example of one of these sites in France is called Le Bon Coin.  www.leboncoin.fr

I have advertised here for free, and had medium good response from this.  There are a number of these types of sites on-line known as les petite annonce gratuite.  I am not sure if that's the correct spelling, but Google always seems to know what I mean.  :)  Many of these sites are specific to certain towns or regions.  It is really good if you know French, since that is your target for the advertisement.  You are welcome to view this ad, listed in service particuleir in the Alpes Maritime area with tag-word Anglais.

Another method that I have had equally good response from is little notices posted at the grocery store, or pharmacy, tabac, and other small shops in the villages.  The larger towns do not have this type of board available for hanging notices on, but the small shops in the villages all seem to be open to helping people find services.  Be sure to buy something from the store before asking to post you notice.  It's only curteous as far as the French are concerned.  Places that you frequent for your daily needs will remember you, and may be more likely to point out your ad to someone who stops to shop and chat.  Something that happens very frequently in small towns.  I added hang tags that you can tear off with my name, phone number and email address along with Apprendre L'Anglais, my company name, for lack of anything more original occuring to my brain when I was making the notices up.  I can tell how things are going when I go buy bread and a tag is missing.  Someone was interested.

I have contacted some of the schools, but not much luck there.  French law is pretty strict about teacher qualifications and employment administration.

If any of you out there have other ways you have marketed your classes, it would be great to know.  Pass them along to the rest of us.

Have a great one, and send your other experiences too.  We can all learn from each other.

You seem to have covered it fairly well - but how about going to your local Mairie and offering to teach a small group free of charge - I think they then give you a venue plus free photocopying etc and it's maybe a way to pick up more private students through word of mouth.  Bonne chance!

Hi! You should post some notices or make some flyers to leave at the Eglise Americaine. I did this a couple of years ago and got a lot of calls. signing up for kelprof also worked for me, but they keep changing their system. just some suggestions. good luck!
