Studying to be a TEFL teacher

Yahooooo! It took some time but tonight I finally finished my TEFL course, that is... the core module. There ae still a couple of specialist modules to go but at least I can call myself a TEFL teacher now! The course itself, online only, was tough at times. Not because it was particular difficult but because I haven't been a student in many years. I had no idea anymore the dedication it takes to study,...

I've just been accepted to do a Pueblo Inglés course at La Alberca in the last week of August.  I'm ever so excited as I've been skint and stuck in Madrid for 2 months now.  Don't get me wrong, I totally love Madrid, but it's getting depressing with no money! Time is running out

So tomorrow is the end of some pretty good price reductions on the i-to-i courses. I feeling pressured to decide before then whether to make the commitment to one of the courses. I hate that kind of pressure! Conceptually, I'm committed to the idea of pursuing ESL teaching in another country. But I'm still very fearful of whether the i-to-i organization is legitimate. I've made so many mistakes in my life. I really don't want this...

Breakfast included

Well I went on a visa run for Astrid at the weekend to Hong Kong. Luckily I had Friday evening free so we took the 6pm coach there, arriving at about 10pm. We didn't take many things, just her big handbag for a change of clothes and a small one for her money so we decided to walk to look for hotels in Nathan Road which is famed for cheap hotels, especially hourly hotels! I...

It's been a while

The title says it all, Since arriving in China just over 4 months ago I haven't had much time to write on the chalkboard site. But now things are changing, I am leaving my job at EF and moving to work for a kindergarten in the same city, the hours are better and the pay is more which folks gives me more time to start blogging on a regular basis again.   So starting from...
