Hey I really want to go to China on the internship but it is a lot of money that seems to be simply going into a safety net for if or when you have difficulties. What does our money actually pay for or does it just line their pockets? Oh and how far does the spending money actually go in China? I really want to do this but under a lot of pressure from the parentals to ask these questions and get a good answer back! Thanks Huw |

Hey I might not be much help but I will give it a shot from what i have learnt so far. Im gona be going on the internship in feb. Yes £995 is a lot of money also almost another £1000 for flights visa and transfering your visa to stay their 5 months. but that extra £1000 for flights and that you would have to pay anyway if you went on your own not doing an internship. so whats left? £995 well that includes your TEFL cert which would cost arround lets say £400 so that leaves almost £600 which would cover... 24/7 support, a 2 week orientation in Beijing coving everything your going to need to get started, 6 hours Mandarin lesson (during the 2 weeks) 1 day tour of Beijing, airport pickup and transfers to your placement and visa assistance. So in my opinion they cant be making a great deal of profit (but there must still be some I asume) all this can be found here...... http://www.i-to-i.com/teaching-internships/china/ I have been to china a few years ago for a month and seriously....seriously loved it! The culture, way of life how cheap it is out there! so yes £200 a month to spend isnt a great lot is because your accociating it with the cost of living back at home. Over in china its a fraction of the price so money will get you a lot further! Im still learning from this intern stuff, sorry if it hasnt helped much, but if you need anymore info id be glad to try and help. Ash =)

Hey guys, I am on the August internship so if you have any questions feel free to throw them my way. Don't forget that the schools provide your meals and if they don't you get a meal allowance on top of the monthly allowance. Though I would highly reccomend having plenty of money in savings, just for those unexpected costs and the few weeks you will spend more money then once you've started teaching. deneka |
