Hello!!! This is Shruti here from Mumbai, India. I am new to the TEFL community and have recently completed a 120 hour online course in TEFL. I have secured a job in Istanbul, Turkey at the Royal College of English. I am expected to teach english to business people and corporates. I am getting a salary of 1250 lira and the organization is ready to pay for my accommodation and bill and transport. I am really new to the market. I was wondering if you know about the credentials of this school and if you think this is a good offer. I am not aware of the average salary a TEFl teacher should command in Turkey. Any comments or suggestions would be more than welcome. Thanks!!!! |

Hi Shruti! It is really heartening for me to learn that you have got an offer in Turkey. It is already 3 months since you posted this, so I want to ask if you are in turkey now, and if so, how is it so far? I am Rohini from Bangalore, India, and I am just about to start the 120 hour online course myself. I have done alot of research on the internet, and the opportunities for non-native speakers don't look too good.. Please let me know. |

Hello! i wanted to ask you how did you find a job if a lot of the job requirements state that they seek native speakers or not, but definitely with a passport from an English speaking country. Does that mean that it will be pointless for me to react on these jobs? I am finishing my 140 hour online course, but wherever i read about a job i found the requirement of a passport from an English Speaking country. So, how did you find a job Shrutim? please be so kind and let me know..i'm starting to feel i did the course for nothing. I'm Romanian, by the way.:) |
