Hi all, I am a Nigerian Potential TEFL Teacher and would love to launch my career in Turkey. Since I am a non-EU citizen, can I be considered for a teaching position? My sincere regards to y'all. And remain focused to our cause. Teach English!

Hi osaregie65, Turkey is also non EU, therefore you will need a work permit. This is also the case for EU citizens - unless you are married to a Turkish citizen, in which case you can apply for extended residency when you arrive (which allows you to work). Presuming you are not married to a Turkish national, you will need to find a langauge school that is willing to sponsor your work visa. This is rare, but not unheard of (usually offered to very experienced teachers unless they have an urgent requirement). I would spend some time seeking langauge schools that do offer visa sponsorship and check what they need before comitting yourself to Turkey. Good luck John |

Hello JohnGell, You seem familiar with working in turkey....I have been offered 2 weeks at end of January...Having seen your post, you say a work permit is needed....it hasnt been mentioned yet by the language school? Will they sort it when I'm there? Or would I need it to arrive off the plane in Istanbul?..or do i just arrive as a holidaymaker..I will of course be asking them this. Amelia |
