Hi Laura,
Im currently teaching english in ancona at the moment. I have to say, being half Italian that I have never quite experienced a town quite like it...if anyone is thinking of moving to Ancona, I would advise that they dont! Ancon-ians are renowned for being quite hostile and unfriendly. I have now experienced this first hand! There is nothing to do here, its mainly just a stop over for people using the port to get to greece and croatia. Its also a very nice city, badly kept, grafitti all over the place...not nice.
Also flats in italy work in a very strange way, for example I currently live in a 4 bed house- without a contract! If one person moves out the other girls I share with have said that the thing they do here is split the cost of the flat 3 ways- until someone else is found!! Crazy right!! Also my deposit went to girl that left. This means that if i dont find someone- I dont get my deposit back! Thankfully I have told the lad lady that I expect to have my deposit back on the 22nd of december when I leave for London! I won't be coming back to Ancona! HOWEVER italy is a wonderful place and am thinking of one of the big city's next. Are you living in Italy at the moment?
