So here's one probably for the guys (Without meaning to be sexist). I heard China has banned games consoles, yet I hear many people there have them. Kinda like a 'law' that noone actually really cares about. My question is, could I get my Xbox 360 into the country without it getting confiscated? |
I haven't heard that law.. I have seen them for sale in the shops and I bought my 360 and PSP with me. You'll be fine! :) |

Yeah, there's certainly a banned thing in China, however Nintendo is certainly finding ways around it. I was thinking I would like to take Rockband with me under the excuse of teaching english through songs...and ROCK! :D |

Very easy to buy in China. I'm in Hong Kong and I used to always go to Shenzhen for my Wii games. Of course they're modded. |
I am a PC gamer so the life without gaming is going to be a big difference for me :p What's even worse is that it's MMO and the occasional FPS. Noooo lol. Is the banned thing not just based on being strict about consoles to influence learning more as oppose to online socialising? |
It's not illegal to take your console into the country, and you can even get Xbox live, so really there's no issue here. Might have to get your games sent over or download them, but it's no biggie. Either the government is reeeally lax on this 'law', or all the sources on the net have pulled that out their ass. Either way, if you're a PC gamer, you've definitely got no problems. |

I have no problem, many game shops here in Dongguan. They are all modded so you can play copied games, so either buy real games or go get it modded, I haven't seen real games here yet only in HK. No Xbox live here so you just need to change your locale to HK or elsewhere. |

Thanks for the thread. I never thought about taking a Playstation or Wii with me. I maybe a bit long in the tooth but the old fingers are dead quick on the console. There's a lot of life ileft n this old bird. |

I've seen plenty of real games at a store I used to go to in Shijiazhuang. |
I've seen real games, but they're all older games and cost way more than they should. If you want to play a games console in China, just buy a modded one here (Still mostly cheaper than in the UK) and play copied games. I have a modded 360 I bought off of TaoBao for 140 Since games average about 50p each, it's more than worth it in the long run. |

just thought id add: im taking my wii, xbox AND ps3 in the suitcases, as well as a 3d projector. you can buy over there, its just there is often a higher tax on them so they can be expensive, i remember a cousin over there saw a wii when it was new for £300ish in china where in the uk they were £189. |
